Problem Statement
A leading global technology company operating across 13 Indian cities faced significant challenges in employee health management. Limited employee awareness about personal health status led to preventable conditions being discovered too late, increasing healthcare costs due to delayed interventions. Previous wellness initiatives suffered from inconsistent participation rates, and the company lacked a standardized approach to health screening across its diverse locations. The organization needed a comprehensive solution that could engage employees across 37 locations while delivering valuable health insights to both individuals and the company as a whole.
Solution
The company partnered with Alyve Health to develop “Live Better,” a holistic health screening program designed to provide accessible health assessments to all employees. This initiative aimed to create awareness about personal health metrics, enable early detection of potential health issues, gather organization-wide health data, and improve participation rates through streamlined scheduling and execution.
The program included comprehensive screenings covering vital health parameters:
- Complete Blood Count
- Total Cholesterol
- Kidney Function Test
- Liver Function Test
- Random Blood Sugar
- Body Mass Index
- Blood Pressure Monitoring
Execution
The “Live Better” program was implemented over a 29-day period from July 15 to August 29. Alyve Health conducted 128 total health camp days across 13 cities and 37 locations. To maximize participation, they created a user-friendly registration system and established an efficient on-site screening process that minimized wait times while maintaining quality standards.
After screenings, participants received prompt and confidential test results, allowing them to take immediate action if needed. Throughout the process, the Alyve Health team collected comprehensive data for analysis and gathered participant feedback through satisfaction surveys to continuously improve the experience.
Outcomes
Participation
The program saw 21,632 employees participate, representing a 27% increase from the previous year, with an impressive 84% conversion rate from registration to participation. Mysore, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Gurgaon, and Kolkata showed the highest participation rates.
Demographic analysis revealed:
- 64% male and 36% female participants
- Higher female participation in Coimbatore, Bangalore, Kochi, and Chennai
- Strongest age group participation from the 25-30 year bracket
Health Insights
The screenings revealed that 90% of participants showed normal glucose levels, exceeding urban India averages, while 71% demonstrated healthy cholesterol levels. However, the data identified several areas of concern. Employees in the 35+ age group showed higher BMI concerns, and female participants had a higher prevalence of low hemoglobin levels.
Key findings included:
- Only 1% showed elevated creatinine levels, indicating good kidney health across the population
- 11% displayed elevated uric acid levels, with higher prevalence in Kolkata and Noida
- Liver function markers revealed areas for improvement, particularly in males aged 30-40
Risk Assessment and Satisfaction
Risk assessment categorized 68% of participants as low-risk, with less than 1% identified as high-risk (having 3-4 risk factors). Males showed a higher prevalence of 1-2 risk factors compared to females, and employees under 30 demonstrated fewer risk factors overall. Regionally, Mysore showed the healthiest population profile with the highest percentage of zero-risk individuals.
Participant satisfaction was strong, with 60% of survey respondents rating as “Promoters” on the NPS scale. Employees particularly appreciated:
- Efficient scheduling and registration process (60%)
- Timely report delivery (60%)
- Professional staff (50%)
- Reasonable waiting times (41%)
Impact and Future Direction
The “Live Better” program successfully created a culture of preventive health management while providing valuable data to guide future wellness initiatives. Based on the findings, Alyve Health recommended targeted interventions focused on chronic condition management programs with personalized coaching and physical activity initiatives, including sports memberships and office workshops.
Alyve Health’s recommendations included:
- One-on-one coaching sessions and virtual doctor consultations
- Special campaigns addressing women’s health issues, particularly hemoglobin concerns
- Team-based wellness challenges led by supervisors
- Automated health nudges based on screening outcomes
The program demonstrated how a well-executed health screening initiative can deliver meaningful health insights while achieving strong participation rates across a geographically dispersed organization. By identifying specific health trends and areas of concern, the company is now positioned to implement targeted wellness programs that can improve employee health outcomes and potentially reduce healthcare costs in the long term.
